Workshops are a great way to explore the many ways your yoga can benefit your life on and off the mat. These intensives will include warming up the body and mind with gentle movement in a class format, hands-on experimentation and adjustments, group discussion, and ample time to have questions answered and to receive individual attention.

Deep Release through Conscious Movement, sliding into Deep Rest through Yoga Nidra

Deep Release through Conscious Movement is a focused, gentle inward journey to release deeply held muscular and mental tension. Yoga Nidra, (yogic psychic sleep), is a deep relaxation and guided meditation technique enjoyed primarily while resting on the back, creating a relaxed and renewed experience in the BodyMind.

By combining these 2 restorative, meditative practices of Yoga, we give ourselves permission to slow down, dissolve buried tension, and rejuvenate physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

After a sweet closing meditation of “Om’s”, we’ll peel ourselves off the floor to float home in peace (after home-make cookies, of course).

Absolutely all levels welcome! Light refreshments and quiet conversation to be enjoyed before and after workshop.

Hip Hip Hooray! Awakening the Hip and Shoulder Dialogue

Tightness in the hips and shoulders restricts the practice of many Yoga asanas and is one of the main causes of hip and shoulder pain and discomfort. Such common tightness plays a large role in restricted and shallow breathing, and can contribute to many back and knee problems.

In this workshop we will learn a simple and effective home-practice (hand-outs included) that will free the hips and shoulders, while nourishing the surrounding tissues. Exploring focused pranayamas will also assist us in opening the great Hip and Shoulder Pathway, leading toward healthy, balanced, expansive breathing.

Ample time will be given for Q&A about your individual concerns, and we’ll close with a deeply relaxing Guided Relaxation and Meditation. No experience necessary. All levels are warmly welcomed.

Exploring Kundalini Yoga: Energetic Emotional and Physical Release through Kundalini’s Movement, Mantra, and Meditation

The ancient art of Kundalini Yoga is based on kriyas, or specially formulated sets of cleansing exercises, which involve joyful repetitive movement with specific breathing techniques. We’ll have fun exploring these vigorous breath-based kriyas, as well as mantra, mudra, and meditation. Short relaxations are incorporated in the practice to allow us to integrate and experience the shifts and changes in the body.

After a stimulating set of kriyas, we’ll enjoy a long deep relaxation followed by a short meditation that concludes the class. Kriyas can sometimes be challenging, both emotionally and physically, but everyone is lovingly encouraged to explore them at their own level and ability, and in their own sweet way. It’s all good! All healthy levels welcome-no experience necessary.

Come join us for this unique and powerful approach to strengthening and stretching the physical and emotional bodies, while calming the mind and opening the heart. Light refreshments and quiet conversation to be enjoyed before and after workshop.

Extended Practice Playshop: A 4 Hour Yoga Retreat!

This is a fun afternoon practice for intermediate(or strong, experienced Level 1 students) to come together with a bit more time to stretch out into our Yoga, as well as connect more deeply with ourselves and one another. If you haven’t had the chance to explore a longer practice, you will be delighted to find how easy it is to steep yourself deep in an effortless groove.

We’ll explore and expand our perceived boundaries as we journey through the Yoga’s of Yin Meditation, Kundalini, Trance Dance, Flow, and Restorative modalities, while blissing out for 4 glorious hours in the belly of the breath. We’ll rest often and enjoy doing just what our BodyMind’s need!

Closing with Yogic Sleep and awakening to a sea of OM’s, we’ll finish our afternoon with inspired Kula Conversation, abundant home-made cookies, and spicy Chai. For a double-dose of Yoga Joy, combine this workshop with the Kundalini Workshop the evening before for a 2-day celebration. Fun, fun, fun! Come to one, come to both! Come one, come all!

Yoga for a Better Back: A Detailed Home Practice for a Happy, Healthy Back

Learn a concise “Happy, Healthy Back” sequence to facilitate the release of present chronic back tension, while learning how to prevent injury and discomfort in the future. In this workshop we will explore techniques of a home-practice to gently stretch and safely open the back musculature to increase flexibility and strength, as well as laying the foundation of a “Back and Breath” centered yoga practice to ease tension at its source.

We’ll learn and practice a take-home sequence (hand-outs included) to refine postures you can do on your own every day that will alter the habits that contribute to back discomfort. If you attended last session’s Back workshop, this class will greatly complement what you learned by offering you a more detailed, streamlined set of instructive hand-outs.

By moving with attention and careful alignment, we’ll begin to install fresh patterns, creating space and ease in your back body. Ample time will be given for Q&A about your individual back concerns, and we’ll close with a nourishing Guided Relaxation.No experience necessary. All levels are warmly welcomed.
